Eiffel Tower: 20% price hike on tickets from mid-June 2024

The Eiffel Tower is the capital's most emblematic monument, and a popular tourist attraction every day of the year. In 2023, more than six million visitors climbed the Iron Lady's floors. But these millions of visitors, combined with bad weather and the passage of time, are causing the monument to deteriorate.

Since 2017, and until 2030, the Eiffel Tower operating company has been carrying out a major restoration campaign, " The most ambitious campaign in its history ", assures Jean-François Martins. The company's director told France Bleu that 380 million euros will be invested in the work.

This is a substantial sum of money that must be released from the operating company's coffers in order to preserve this emblem of French heritage. In recent years, various events have also put a strain on the Eiffel Tower's finances. The Covid-19 crisis , tourist confinements and restrictions, strikes and social unrest that have hit the capital have all resulted in revenue losses for the monument. In all, according to information reported by Le Parisien, the monument's operating company " incurred an operating loss of around 113 million euros ", according to Jean-François Martins.

So, in order to make up for these losses, and to ensure a cash inflow despite the planned expenses, the Eiffel Tower will be raising its prices from June 17, 2024. Our colleagues in Le Parisien report that the adult ticket to the top by elevator will rise to 35.30 euros, with the staircase route to the 2nd floor now costing 14.20 euros.

At present, prices range from 29.40 euros (ticket to top floor by elevator) to 5.90 euros (reduced rate to 2nd floor by staircase).

Pending the implementation of these new rates, and to avoid confusion at the time of payment, the opening of this summer's ticketing service has been delayed: " tickets for visits from June 17, 2024 will go on sale at a later date ", explains the operating company.
