From this Saturday, June 1, 2024, the Place de la Concorde will be completely closed to traffic. This measure, necessary in preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games events, will impact not only cars and motor vehicles but also pedestrians and cyclists.
The Place de la Concorde will host a number of competitions, including BMX freestyle, breaking, 3x3 basketball and skateboarding. To ensure safety and facilitate the organization of these events, major traffic modifications will be put in place:
Rue Royale: In the north-south direction, this street will be closed to general traffic from Place de la Madeleine and Rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré to Place de la Concorde. However, local service traffic will be permitted. In the south-north direction, traffic will remain open on Rue Royale to Madeleine, with local service authorized to Avenue Gabriel.
Avenue des Champs-Élysées: Traffic will be closed between Avenue Winston Churchill and Place de la Concorde in the west-east direction.
Pont de la Concorde: Accessible from the Cour la Reine in the north-south direction, the bridge will remain open to local traffic in the south-north direction.
Detours for cyclists will be set up and can be consulted on the city's website (paris.fr). In addition, the La Concorde underground public parking lot will be closed from June 1 to September 25.
The closures are part of a vast project to transform the Place de la Concorde into a venue for sporting events.

Concorde metro station on line 12 has already been closed since May 17. Lines 1 and 8 will continue to serve this station until June 17, after which metro services will no longer stop at Concorde, making connections impossible.
