Every year, more and more frescoes by talented urban artists cover the façades of buildings in the capital. The 13th arrondissement, for example, has become a favorite spot for many street artists, including Seth, Shepard Fairey and Inti. Events are also regularly organized in Paris, each time revealing the creativity of these wildly talented artists.
This spring, it's time for a new edition of " #l_équipée "an artistic event with Portuguese-born self-taught artist L'Empreinte Jo V at the helm, supported this time by volunteers Murielle, Anne, Nath and Franck. Known for his works depicting the faces of children, women and men, both well-known and anonymous, and often marked with a small red heart, L'Empreinte Jo V has already exhibited at Lavo//Matik. Several of his frescoes can also be found on Paris walls, as at Spot 13.
After organizing the first edition of " #l_équipée " last February, L'Empreinte Jo V announces the return of this unusual, free, collective street art event, dubbed"L'équipée 2". To be discovered over one weekend only, this Saturday May 25 and Sunday May 26, 2024, from 1pm to 6pm, the event unveils the frescoes of several street artists, both emerging and well-known, in two bars in eastern Paris. For this new edition, " #l_équipée " expands to"two different rooms with two different atmospheres", it is announced.
As for the line-up, get ready to admire a total of 27 works by 20 different artists, including L'Empreinte Jo V of course, but also Louyz, Andrew Wallas, les Poulpeuses, Remi Cierco, Diane, aubi__art, Raphaelle Emery and the young and talented 2li.
We had the chance to preview the premises and the various frescoes created for the occasion, to be admired in the basement of the first bar (on a rough wall), then upstairs in the second establishment (on a smooth wall). Another difference between the two locations? In the second bar, located in Bas-Belleville, the spotlight is on Édith Piaf - who was born in the neighborhood. The sublime fresco created in homage to La Môme, and created entirely with paintbrushes by 2li, is a particular highlight. L'Empreinte Jo V, who is also unveiling a very fine work on site, has also given of its person with 160 stencils referencing Édith Piaf songs, visible both on the ceiling and on the bar steps. We also love Louyz 's fresco featuring a child and a parrot against the backdrop of the capital. The suite and the other beautiful frescoes by Andrew Wallas, Raphaelle Emery, Diane, les Poulpeuses, Remi Cierco and Kal Dea are not to be missed in eastern Paris.
Join us on May 25 and 26, 2024 to discover"L'équipée 2". The event will run from 1pm to 6pm, with a number of activities on the program, including an open wall, live painting, meetings with the artists, a shopping area and a surprising treasure hunt with prizes to be won!
So, where exactly should you go to discover this new street art event? Head for the Mr Culbuto bar (294 rue des Pyrénées, 75020 Paris) from 1pm. Then, once there, you can pick up the treasure hunt questionnaire, which will take you to the second bar, about 15-20 minutes' walk away. The concept? Take a photo of yourself in front of works of art hidden along a well-defined route. These works are to be found by means of a questionnaire. And of course, access is free and open to all.
Also note that this street art event takes place at the same time as the Belleville artists' studio open house. It's the perfect opportunity to make more artistic discoveries in this famous district of the capital!
