Rendezvous at the Ritz Paris for a tea time out of time. You have two choices:Afternoon Tea in the luminous Bar Vendôme, or Christmas Tea in the cosy Salon Proust. From November 29, 2024 to January 5, 2025, during the festive season, you'll be able to savor François Perret's delicious gourmet creations.
The Bar Vendôme awaits you under its glass roof, every day from 3pm to 6pm. On the menu, spice-scented teas and crazy hot chocolates. Two choices are available. You can opt for the Thé de Noël at 68€, which includes a selection of sandwiches and scones and a festive pastry accompanied by a hot drink, or the Thé Royal de Noël, which comes with a glass of Champagne as a bonus.
The Salon Proust is open from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm. The Ritz teams await you in a library-like setting filled with books by Proust, the master of the house, and a farandole of cakes, cookies, brioches and tarts deliciously set on the magnificent central table. With its enchanting holiday decor, this is a table to dream about.
The Salon Proust program includes a Goûter Gourmand à la française with a fine selection of festive cookies, a hot drink and champagne for €95.
Did you know? The Ritz Paris is so closely associated with Marcel Proust, because the novelist was present at its inauguration in 1898 and took up residence here. He would receive his friends there for literary salons. It was therefore obvious that Marcel Proust would be the guarantor of French tea time in this salon in his image.
And for your general knowledge, theexpression "madeleine de Proust" comes from the book A la Recherche du temps perdu, Du côté de chez Swann, in which Marcel Proust writes: "And soon, mechanically, overwhelmed by the dreary day and the prospect of a sad tomorrow, I brought to my lips a spoonful of the tea where I had left a piece of madeleine to soften. But the instant the sip mixed with the cake's crumbs touched my palate, I flinched, alert to the extraordinary thing that was happening inside me. A delicious pleasure had invaded me, isolated, without any notion of its cause. It had immediately rendered the vicissitudes of life indifferent, its disasters harmless, its brevity an illusion..."
It's through these verses and childhood memories that François Perret attempts to immerse us in his regressive yet innovative tea time.
