Following a catenary rupture at Auber, traffic has been disrupted on the RER A between Nation and Charles de Gaulle-Étoile since 5:45 am on Monday December 9, 2024. While RATP was expecting traffic to resume around 8am and 1pm, it is now expected to resume at around 9pm.

Bad news for many RER A commuters. Since 5:45 a.m. this Monday, December 9, 2024, traffic has been partially interrupted on this busy RER line. This follows a catenary break at Auber station. "When the cable tore away, it damaged a water supply pipe, causing a major leak near the train", explains RATP.

In detail, train traffic is currently disrupted between Nation and Charles de Gaulle-Étoile, in both directions. Auber, Châtelet-les-Halles and Gare de Lyon stations, which are heavily used by passengers every day, are therefore currently inaccessible on line A of the RER. As for the rest of the line, it remains"very disrupted", according to the RER A X account.

While traffic was expected to resume at 8am and then 1pm, it is now expected to resume around 9pm. RATP reports that channeling agents and GPSR staff have been deployed as reinforcements. More than 200 agents are currently on site to inform and direct passengers to alternative routes.

"The technical teams are hard at work and fully mobilized to enable traffic to resume as quickly and safely as possible", announced RATP in a press release, adding that"the intervention is extremely complex due to the configuration of the site".Teams are working directly from the roof of the train, in very confined spaces and under a tunnel". An internal investigation is underway to"determine the circumstances of this incident", RATP reveals.

The Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens informs that trains to Cergy-Le Haut and Poissy leave from La Défense station. Conversely, trains from Poissy or Cergy-Le Haut will run to La Défense.

RATP apologizes to passengers for the inconvenience, and invites them to use alternative routes, such as metro line 1 or Transilien line L. Lines 1 and 14 have also been reinforced, says RATP.
