Every year, the same rumor spreads. At the dawn of the New Year, many people expect to see fireworks from the Eiffel Tower, and sometimes those who look up to the Iron Lady on December 31st face the disappointment of not seeing a pyrotechnic show after the countdown. Contrary to popular belief, there are generally no fireworks displays from the Eiffel Tower on New Year's Eve in Paris.
And yet, images of a fireworks show on this emblematic monument do exist. And with good reason: fireworks are fired from the Eiffel Tower every year... but on July 14, the French national holiday. There was also an exceptional year when the Iron Lady was illuminated by a flamboyant show for the New Year's festivities: this was the year 2000, to mark the start of the new millennium.
However, another of the capital's iconic landmarks is traditionally the place to be for celebrations, including New Year' s Eve: the Champs-Elysées, known as the most beautiful avenue in the world.
