Beware, if you're traveling in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, a fire in progress could disrupt your journey. This morning, at around 10:00 am, a violent fire broke out in a building located at 26 avenue d'Iéna, according to information provided by the Paris fire department. The flames, which started in a maid's room on the top floor, engulfed part of the building, causing a plume of black smoke visible from several neighboring districts.
Some forty firefighters and fifteen trucks were mobilized to contain the flames. Although the extent of the fire has been described as "measured" by the emergency services, the situation remains complex due to the height at which it has spread. For the time being, the 16th arrondissement town hall has confirmed that no casualties have been reported.
The area is currently cordoned off to allow rescue workers to intervene, and people are strongly advised toavoid the Avenue d'Iéna and surrounding areas. Traffic is disrupted, and police are redirecting passers-by and motorists to facilitate access for firefighters.
Local residents reported that the flames had spread rapidly, probably triggered by an electrical incident, although the exact cause has yet to be determined. The situation is evolving, and local authorities are expected to provide further information later today.
