As the Annecy International Animated Movie Festival would have celebrated its 60th anniversary this year, the health conditions do not allow the organization of an on-site festival before summer. But postponing the festival was not an option for organizers. The event will then take place online: “We took the decision not to move the Festival to a later date. The necessary facilities and the regular events’ calendar, as well as scheduled postponements of other events, do not provide us with a reasonable option.”
The program initially planned for the 60th anniversary of the festival and expected to celebrate African animation is postponed to 2021. Yet, a brand-new festival – that is being organized online on a platform still being developed – will take place from June 15 to 30, 2020.
Program 2020:
The Festival was sent over 3,000 movies, including all categories, from 94 countries (the most represented: France, the United-Sates, the United-Kingdom, Canada, Germany, China, South Korea).
You can discover the entire official selection on the Festival’s website.
As for feature films and VR works, the official selection will drop mid-May.
Jury members 2020:
Whoever says Official Selection, says prize-winners: here are those who have the tough task of bestowing the Cristal awards. We specifically thank them for accepting our invitation.
