Borderlands 4 shows itself again... And it's promising! Gearbox Software and 2K unveiled a trailer for the upcoming release at the Game Awards, on the night of December 12-13, 2024. This new opus in the franchise even has a release date, scheduled for 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series, as well as PC via Steam and theEpic Games Store. Gamers can now add the game to their wishlist, and get ready to dive into another epic adventure.
"In this new opus of the ultimate shooter-looter, players will take on the role of a legendary Ark Hunter and must fight their way through hordes of enemies in search of new treasures to plunder on a brand-new planet."
This fourth title in the series is distinguished by its franchise-typical gameplay, in which players take on the role of a legendary treasure hunter in search of a mysterious alien treasure. Faithful to the spirit of Borderlands, this new opus offers a mix of frenetic action and looting of all kinds, all set in an ever richer and crazier universe. The trailer unveiled at Gamescom offered a first glimpse of one of the new planets that players will be able to explore, revealing a variety of environments and increasingly formidable enemies.
According to Randy Pitchford, founder and president of Gearbox Entertainment Company, the team has long had grandiose ambitions for the franchise:"The Gearbox team and I have wanted to do a lot with Borderlands ever since we introduced the shooter-looter genre to the world with our original game," he explains. He continues:"Everyone at Gearbox has big ambitions for Borderlands 4, and are working hard to make everything we love about Borderlands better than ever, while taking the game to new levels with exciting new directions."
With over 87 million copies sold worldwide, the Borderlands franchise has established itself as an essential pillar of the video game industry.
