History mixes with intimate stories, cities offer new anchors, new landscapes, encounters, colors, sounds and lives come together on Mohamed Bourouissa's large, colorful canvas. The Algerian artist recounts his intimate experiences, his multicultural journey, in a groundbreaking exhibition.
The Signal exhibition can be seen at the Palais de Tokyo from February 16 to June 30, 2024. The exhibition brings together drawings, photographs, sound scores, films, sculptures, watercolors and experimental music by the artist, from his early days to the present day. A collection in no apparent order, telling the story of Mohamed Bourouissa's life and spirit.
Algeria, Gennevilliers, Gaza or Philadelphia: despite borders, the contemporary artist is interested in communities, cultures, those who resist colonial domination and build their history in adversity.
Through his works, Mohamed Bourouissa recounts these troubled lives, these tensions, these moments of joy and poetry, this past that resurfaces behind every window, this imposed silence and these cries from the heart... Sensitive to others, to his environment, the artist immortalizes and transmits, while seeking to extricate himself from these narratives that can darken minds and intoxicate the future.
Mohamed Bourouissa invites us into his intimate, touching and powerful universe. Come and meet this artist at the Palais de Tokyo, and discover his poetic exhibition.
