Ready for an arty, stylish trip? The"Alaïa/Kuramata, la légèreté en création" exhibition takes over the Fondation Azzedine Alaïa from Monday June 24, 2024 to Sunday January 12, 2025. An unmissable event for fans of design and fashion!
Couture virtuosoAzzedine Alaïa has always been fascinated by the art of Japanese designer Shiro Kuramata, with whom he shares an undeniable connection to sculpture. Kuramata's acrylic furniture defied the laws of gravity, transforming furniture into light, ethereal works of art. A friendship and admiration that have grown into a unique collection since the 2000s, bringing together cult pieces such as "Pyramide Furniture" (1968), "Luminous Chair" (1969), "OBA-Q" (1972), "Glass Chair" (1976), "How High is the Moon" (1986) and "Twilight Time" (1985).
Alaïa had already celebrated the designer with a groundbreaking exhibition in 2005, but this time, the Fondation Azzedine Alaïa is pulling out all the stops! The private mansion, nestled in the Marais district of Paris, unveils more than twenty pieces by Kuramata, set in dialogue with nearly twenty haute couture creations by Alaïa.
Here, lurex mesh meets knitted metal, transparent acrylic matches delicate chiffon. Together, these works defy line, revealing a shared passion for abstraction and perfection.
So don't miss this new hybrid fashion exhibition, where fashion flirts with design right in the heart of Paris!
