A little sea air has been blowing through the capital since the beginning of February 2018. Etienne Ryckeboer, a young entrepreneur of Normandy origin and a great seafood enthusiast, has opened Bulot Bulot in the 18th arrondissement; a gourmet address that offers a great breath of iodized air right in the heart of Paris!
For Etienne, Bulot Bulot is above all a place that provides " a change of scenery, in a relaxed atmosphere, with very affordable rates ". For total immersion, Bulot Bulot has the spirit of a fisherman's hut, designed by the famous Forall studio.
And it's true that you'll feel particularly at home in this modern yet cosy cabin of less than 30m². Sitting directly at the counter or on one of the benches facing the bar, you're guaranteed to get away from it all.
As for the menu, Etienne Ryckeboer offers shellfish and crustaceans from the beautiful French coast - particularly Normandy. With extremely fresh products, Bulot Bulot modifies its menu daily according to the day's arrivals, the tide and the seasons. As a result, some products may be missing, like the pink shrimps that evening.
We decided to try the famous and excellent whelks, served with a creamy homemade mayo!
Our neighbors opt for the award-winning natural oysters from Gouville-sur-mer. Oysters from Blainville and Cancale are also on the menu.
What follows is just as promising, with a succulent truffle tarama andsmoked eel. Tasty and melt-in-the-mouth, these eels are a real treat for our taste buds! We highly recommend them!
Bulot Bulot also offers salmon and crab rillettes , crab cake, crab claws, grey and pink shrimps, clams, fish soup, smoked salmon and lobster rolls...
To accompany all this, Bulot Bulot unveils a fine selection of wines in perfect harmony with the seafood: Sauvignon, Muscadet, Chablis or even Sancerre and Riesling in White, or Côtes du Rhône and St-Emilion Grand Cru in Red.
Lovers of clever beverages are not left out, thanks to a five-cocktail menu designed by Margot Lecarpentier (ex-Experimental Cocktail Club), most recently at bar Combat in Belleville.
While the"Classic Moscow Mule" (ginger cordial, sugar syrup, lime juice, ginger beer and vodka) is a real crowd-pleaser, I'm totally under the spell of the"Granville Spritz" (Saint-Germain, Sherry fino, Suze, fresh lemon juice and natural sparkling wine), which goes perfectly with the whelks.
On the beer front, a craft beer from Aveyron.
And good news for those in a hurry: Bulot Bulot also offers a takeaway menu!
Lovers of iodized products now have their own Parisian HQ! We're telling you, Bulot Bulot is THE place to be if you want to experience an incredible and very convivial taste experience on our Normandy coast without even leaving the capital.
