On July 19, 2024, the Olympic Flame, a symbol of peace and world unity, will criss-cross the Val-d'Oise and highlight the department's treasures on the occasion of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. On that day, the département will shine as the privileged host of this Olympic tradition, with a route that crosses 18 communes to conclude with a grandiose celebration at the Enghien-Soisy racecourse.
More than a hundred bearers of the Olympic Flame will take turns on the Val-d'Oise route. These scouts have been chosen by the Paris 2024 Games organizing committee and its partners, the Département and the stage city. They have been selected to ensure gender parity, including able-bodied and disabled people, and representing all generations.
The day will conclude in apotheosis at the hippodrome d'Enghien-Soisy in Soisy-sous-Montmorency, where the last torchbearer will set ablaze the cauldron of the Paris 2024 Games. The site will host a huge popular festival, punctuated by sports entertainment, shows, meetings with athletes and a fireworks display, inviting everyone to join in the celebration.
Marie-Christine Cavecchi, President of the Département, underlines the importance of this event: " It's a fantastic opportunity for the people of Valdois to experience great emotions through the strong, universal values of Olympism.
The Val d'Oise is thus preparing to offer a warm and festive welcome to the Olympic Flame, illustrating the richness of its heritage and its community spirit in the run-up to the Paris 2024 games , an appointment not to be missed!
