The building or store lighting at night sparks more and more incomprehension as these places are often closed, and their lights are on until late or almost all night long, as France is experiencing a major energy crisis and shortage. To face it, Minister of Culture Rima Abdul Malak make symbolical measures: turning off the lights of some building earlier than usual. She follows Anne Hidalgo’s example. Paris Mayor stated that from September 23, the lights Eiffel Tower and on the façades of public buildings will be turned off from 10 p.m., and 11:45 p.m. for the Eiffel Tower instead of 1 a.m.

Starting this Saturday September 17, the Minister of Culture announced the Louvre pyramid will be turned off from 11 p.m. instead of 1 a.m., whilst the façade of the Palace of Versailles will go dark at 10 p.m. instead of 11 p.m. starting from next week. Of course, these measures will not solve the crisis, but are symbolical and aim at influencing the rest of the population.
