Theexhibition "Combattre loin de chez soi - L'Empire colonial français dans la Grande Guerre" recalls the economic and human mobilization of the French colonial Empire in the Great War, which contributed to the war effort by mobilizing 200,000 workers at the front, in ports, factories and fields.
The exhibition will enable you to understand the many facets of this commitment, the ways in which sacrifice is recognized, and the resonance of their participation.
While the Empire may appear to have emerged from the war strengthened and enlarged, in reality it was profoundly affected, and this participation was undoubtedly an important event in future relations with the metropolis.
