After felines and monkeys, the Brie region of Seine-et-Marne is taking on aSouth American flavour. The fauna of this continent awaits you at Parrot World, the immersive animal park in Crécy-la-Chapelle, from the February 2024 vacations for a new season!
Created by the Parrot Wildlife Foundation(a foundation for the conservation and reproduction of endangered psittacines), Parrot World brings together animals from theAmazon and Patagonia for an immersive visit, in a setting close to the natural habitat of these species.
The program includes encounters with jaguars, penguins, otters, guacanos, rheas and over 500 colorful birds, including ibises, parrots and flamingos. The parrots(macaws, amazons and conures) are housed in a giant aviary: one of the largest in Europe, no less!
This year, Parrot World is welcoming a number of newcomers to the park, including Bennett's Wallabies, Chaco peccaries, ferrets and a new female baby alpaca (Prune), all of whom were born in the park in recent months. Highland cows (long-haired) will join the ranks around mid-April, as will some sixty Gabon Grey parrots.
In addition to the usual entertainment, for its 2024 season Parrot World is welcoming new species, such as maras (hares native to the Patagonian region) and above all, the most eagerly awaited is certainly the Hall of Biodiversity, a brand new tropical space that will host new species never before seen in the park (more information to come soon).
Every day, the public can take part in a variety of educational activities, including animal feeding. But there are no parrots on bicycles or flag-wavers here. And for those who want to extend the experience, Parrot World offers five lodges where you can spend the night up close to the animals - including two facing the jaguars . In terms of entertainment, you're invited to spend half a day as an animal caretaker! It's an opportunity to see the animals up close and learn more about their environment, as well as the job of animal keeper.
For younger visitors, there's even a children's ranch with dwarf goats, alpacas and other Cameroonian sheep. These domestic animals are the only ones the public can touch and feed.
A 1,000 m² play area with slides and monkey bridges awaits visitors.
Please note, however, that the park is in full sun and shade is rare. Hats, sunscreen and sunglasses are essential for a summer visit.
Under the giant aviary, capybaras peacefully enjoy a gigantic space in the company of pink flamingos and parrots. Outside, rheas stretch out on the grass, while Humboldt penguins make their home in Europe's largest enclosure, an immersive space where the public can wander around, complete with nesting boxes for breeding.
This marks a major change for the small town of Crécy-la-Chapelle (population just over 4,200), located some 30 minutes from Paris, 40 kilometers away and accessible by car via theA4 or by transilien train from Gare de l'Est.
