It is not that you are vegetarian or vegan or even lactose-intolerant you shall kiss cheese goodbye, or at least its replacements! In case you crave plant-based cheese, run to the 11th arrondissement, to the 100% plant-based dairy shop and cheesemonger Jay&Joy.
Inaugurated in 2016 by Mary and Eric, the cheesemonger displays organic and vegan cheeses which recipes were created by the pair. All plant-based cheeses are made with almond and cashew milk and aged in a lab in La Croix-Saint-Ouen in Oise.
After months or renovations, Jay&Joy now unveils a bigger dairy station, a well-stocked delicatessen corner and even more original for a plant-based cheesemonger, a cut-station like in any traditional cheesemonger! Among the Jay&Joy’s staples, let us name the Jean-Jacques (plant-based alternative to Maroilles), the Jeanne (plant-based alternative to blue cheese/Roquefort), the Jil (plant-based alternative to goat’s cheese), the Joséphine (plant-based alternative to camembert/brie), the Joy Râpé (plant-based alternative to grated cheese), or the Jeta Fermenté (the plant-based alternative to feta).
Note Jay&Joy now serves a selection of sweet and savory vegan products to enjoy on the go, quiches, salads, cakes and even viennoiseries!
