Resting in the heart of the Fontainebleau forest, Château de Bourron is an invitation to discover the "brick and stone" style. Built on the remains of an ancient medieval fortress, it features 94 bright windows and a horseshoe-shaped staircase, echoing that of Fontainebleau. Thanks to a careful renovation in 2019, today you can admire its former splendor.
Within the Château, you'll find 9 beautiful rooms and suites, all different, but a total of 16 elegant rooms, divided between the Château, the Pavillon, the Maison d'Artagnan and the Maison de la Source. These rooms, while offering modern comforts and WiFi, preserve the soul of the place thanks to their period drapes and furniture.
More modern, the estate's secluded residences, such as Maison d'Artagnan and Maison de la Source, offer a privileged and confidential setting with brand-new Norwegian baths.
During our stay, we had the immense privilege of staying in the"Madame Récamier" room, an exceptional testimony to the luxury and sophistication of the Empire era. From the very first glance, the room transports us to another time, enveloped in an aristocratic aura that Madame Juliette Récamier would undoubtedly have appreciated. The elegant red and white stripes of JAB fabrics harmonize with the golden-yellow bed canopy, creating a warm, regal atmosphere.
The monumental Louis XV woodwork, adorned with copper leaf gilding, is a true masterpiece of artistry and craftsmanship. These details, combined with carefully selected period furniture, amplify the feeling of authenticity and refinement. Nevertheless, the bathroom is without doubt what surprised us most! Modern yet faithful to the spirit of the period, it skilfully juxtaposes the lash of purpose with a walk-in shower, and features a majestic cast-iron lion's foot bathtub.
A true journey back in time, this room is more than just a place to rest: it's a total immersion in the history and splendor of the Napoleonic era. Every detail, every fabric, every ornament testifies to an attention to detail and a passion for historical reconstruction. We left with unforgettable memories and an irresistible desire to return.
The château's gardens are a haven of greenery, offering an enchanted interlude for guests and visitors alike on special occasions such as Heritage Days. The estate, preserved by the Montesquiou family since 1878, evokes the adventures of musketeer d'Artagnan, one of their ancestors. The family is already steeped in history!
