Fish lovers or simply tasty cuisine enthusiasts, we’ve found the best fish bar in Paris 11th arrondissement, because it’s worth it. This marine bistro is Nana Bistrot and when you’ve finished reading this article, you’ll want to get teleported to the beautiful and sunny terrace of the restaurant and to enjoy its exceptional dishes.
At Nana, only seasonal products are proposed. They are purchased in short circuit: meats come from butcher Tristan Seguin, vegetables are carefully selected by the chef on truck farmer Eric Martinet’s stand, from Richard Lenoir market, a few steps from there; fishes come from a sustainable fishing, an effort we highly appreciate.
On the lunchtime menu: 2 starters, 2 main courses and 2 desserts and that’s it! At nighttime, 3 starters, 3 main courses and 3 desserts including appetizers to nibble on. No fuss at Nana, but a quality and tantalizing menu. Because what we haven’t told you yet is that Nana menu changes daily and even at lunch and dinnertime, according, among others, to the daily fishing.
And it adds a small dose of excitement since it’s impossible to know in advance what you’ll be offered and if, by chance, you fall in love with a dish cooked by chef Vincent Jouyaux, it won’t be a surprise because of the cooking quality, it’ll be hard to taste it again before a long time. Going to Nana is trying your luck.
But let’s cut to the chase: tasting. First round. Starters: Mediterranean skipjack tuna tataki with a Japanese twist (€14), half-firm, half-smooth, sprinkled with ponzu, sesame seeds with plum and wasabi, puffed rice and hearty bites of plum and red berries, a delight. Then, the haddock smoked on the spot (€14). Dish is served with an incredible ricotta with seaweed and capers and hides under melon, cut in flower and it’s so pretty we hesitate to destroy this staging. But we have to, and we don’t regret it: fine, smoked, scented, this dish is a marvel.
Second round. Main courses. Argentine Picanha (€28), super soft and served with an invigorating salsa verde with anchovies and pan-fried shiitake; and hake from Finistère (€26) and its sides: peas, Di Venicci bacon and smoked ricotta, as tasty as the rest. We accompany dishes with two glasses of wine, perfectly advised by the house since our two homemade cocktails were already long gone.
Last round. Desserts. In the latter, no fish, be rest assured, but crispiness, sweetness and gourmet food: coconut dacquoise, chocolate ganache, homemade mango sorbet (€9) and Italian meringue, homemade red berries sorbet, fresh red berries and crispy sesame cookie (€9). Two desserts that are diametrically opposite, one is fruity, the other rounder in the mouth, but as good as one another.
With such an explosion of flavors in the plate, you can’t not adore Nana Bistrot!
