Eurovision made its return this Saturday, May 11, 2024, at a grand final held in Malmö, Sweden. Ranked among the favorites from the outset, Switzerland won the 68th edition of the song contest, thanks to its representative Nemo and his song "The Code". France came 4th in the competition. Check out the full rankings now!

This Saturday, May 11, 2024, the Swedish city of Malmö vibrated to the rhythm of the 68th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest! For over 2 hours, the representatives of the 25 finalist countries (following the disqualification of the Netherlands) competed against each other, offering some very fine performances, such as those by Ukraine's alyona alyona & Jerry Heil, Norway's Gåte and Portugal's iolanda. Other performances were rockier (Croatia's Baby Lasagna and Bambie Thug from Ireland), wackier (Estonia's 5MIINUST x Puuluup and Finland's Windows95man), or more touching (France's Slimane and Latvia's Dons).

After the performances, there followed the interminable, but inescapable voting session (jury and public) where each country had to award points (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 and 12 points) to their ten favorite songs.

More than 4 hours after the start of the Grand Final, the 68th Eurovision Song Contest finally unveiled the 2024 winner and revealed the name of the artist who will succeed last year's winner, Sweden's Loreen. Drum roll... Victory goes to Switzerland thanks to its candidate Nemo!

Representing Switzerland this year, Nemo - whose full name is Nemo Mettler - won over many countries with his song " The Code ", with its heady chorus. It's quite a feat for the young man, who took first place in the Eurovision Song Contest at the age of 24. With this latest triumph, Switzerland wins the contest for the 3rd time, following in the footsteps of Lys Assia in 1956 and Céline Dion in 1988. The country will now have the honor of hosting the 69th Eurovision Song Contest, scheduled for spring 2025.

Just behind Nemo, we find the musical phenomenon revealed by the contest and representing Croatia, Baby Lasagna, with his track " Rim Tim Tagi Dim ". The Croatian candidate, who had been the bookies' favorite for the last few hours, failed to score enough points to get ahead of the Swiss. Finally, on the third step of the podium, we find the Ukrainian duo alyona alyona & Jerry Heil with their beautiful song " Teresa & Maria ".

What about France, represented this year by Slimane? The singer came 4th with his song " Mon Amour ". While Slimane did better than La Zarra (16th in 2023) and the Breton quartet Alvan & Ahez, who came second last in 2022, he was unable to surpass the excellent performance of Barbara Pravi, who came 2nd in 2021 with her song " Voilà ".
