Le Royaume de Kensuké is a show for young and old, adapted from the book by Michael Morpurgo. The show can be seen this summer at the Festival Villeneuve en scène from July 8 to 20 at 6 p.m., and from August 26 to 29 at the Festival L'Ile de France fête le théâtre . The show tells the story of an intergenerational friendship.
Michael and his dog, Stella, are blown off a boat during a heavy storm and end up stranded on a deserted island. They take refuge in a cave, and Michael soon realizes that someone else lives on the island, as he sends them food. Michael then meets Kensuké, an old man living on the island, who teaches him how to survive.
The show, adapted by Gaëtan Gauvain and directed by Jonathan Salmon, is suitable for ages 7 and up. The adaptation tells the story of two worlds, two generations, learning to know and love each other. The show promises a beautiful ode to friendship and mutual aid. Gaëtan Gauvin 's creation is an ambulatory show, as you walk through the story with theater, music and acrobatics .
