Did you know? The ring road, once inhabited by the poorest of the poor, was called the Zone.

Before it became a huge thoroughfare around the capital for motorists, the Paris ring road had a less than glorious past. At the edge of the city, between Paris and the suburbs, this space was long nicknamed the Zone, the only place where the poorest could find housing.

Paris: the end of inter-files for motorcycles on the ring road with the switch to 50 km/h

The changeover of the Paris ring road to 50 km/h, which runs from October 1 to 10, 2024, marks a turning point for motorcyclists. With this speed reduction, inter-file traffic, which enabled two-wheelers to squeeze in between cars, will no longer be permitted on this lane. This experiment, extended until December 31, 2024, is in fact only permitted on roads limited to 70 km/h or more.

Night-time closures and summer roadworks on the Paris region ring road and other major roads

As with public transport, summer is the period chosen by the Paris region and the city of Paris to carry out maintenance and renovation work in the streets of the capital, on the ring road and on the main roads of the Île-de-France region.
