The Fête de la Science is the perfect opportunity for children and adults alike to take part in fun activities and learn about biology, chemistry, archaeology and scientific investigation from professionals. During the week-long event, you can take advantage of open doors at Paris universities, science-related museums and other institutions to broaden your knowledge.
Why not take a look at the forensic police? Head for the Musée de la Préfecture de Police, located in the Hôtel de Police in the 5th arrondissement. Created in 1909 by Prefect Louis Lépine, it traces the history of the Paris police from the 17th century to the present day. More than 2,000 works of art highlight the different professions and missions of the Prefecture, from investigators to forensic scientists.

Erina Ferreira is in charge of the Person Identification Division at the Laboratoire de Police Scientifique in Paris. During the Fête de la Science, she will be presenting the history of DNA and how it is used by the scientific police to solve investigations.
Adam Taguirov is a cybercrime engineer with the Anti-Cybercrime Office (OFAC) at the National Directorate of the Judicial Police. He will talk about the types of crime committed using computer tools and networks, and what the police are doing to combat cybercrime.
Philippe Charlier is a forensic pathologist, archaeologist and anthropologist, and former Director of the Research and Teaching Department at the Musée du Quai Branly - Jacques Chirac (Paris). On the occasion of the Fête de la Science, he will be presenting at the Musée de la Préfecture de Police how scientific analysis is helping to solve today's great historical mysteries. Philippe Charlier will talk about the new techniques of forensic anthropology, which now make it possible to identify the causes of death of people who disappeared long ago. The lecture will be followed by a book signing.
