On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Paris opens its doors to the public on Saturday, September 20, 2025. Located just a stone's throw from the Eiffel Tower, the Embassy invites visitors to discover its sumptuous reception rooms and garden, usually closed to the public.
This year, the tour features a unique dialogue between historical heritage and contemporary creation: alongside the residence's furniture and historical features, visitors will be able to admire an exhibition of contemporary design pieces created by top Czech brands and studios. An outdoor exhibition on the Embassy fence will also showcase contemporary Czech industrial design.
A conference on industrial design in the automotive sector will complete the program. Benjamin Cuq, automotive specialist, author and journalist, will trace the history of the automotive brand and the evolution of Škoda's design from its beginnings to the era of electric mobility. Founded in 1895 by Václav Laurin and Václav Klement, the brand celebrates its 130th anniversary this year.
The visit will also include a symbolic stop at the Václav Havel Bench in front of the Embassy entrance - a contemporary design element paying tribute to the humanist and democratic legacy of the former Czech president.
Acquired by the Czechoslovak government in 1924, the mansion built in 1912 has been home to the Embassy of Czechoslovakia for over a hundred years, and to the Embassy of the Czech Republic in France since 1993. Over the years, it has welcomed numerous personalities and been the scene of key moments in Franco-Czech relations.
