For the Journées du Patrimoine 2024 (Heritage Days 2024), the Château de Vincennes, home to Europe's tallest keep, awaits you for a cultural discovery of this medieval monument on the weekend of September 21 and 22, 2024.

A historic monument with hidden treasures, the château de Vincennes is being put in the spotlight during these new Journées du Patrimoine 2024. Yes, even though it's just a stone's throw from Paris, many people forget that this fortress is a vestige that boasts a number of records. It is the largest existing French fortified castle, and its 52-metre-high keep is the highest in Europe. Voltaire and the Marquis de Sade were also imprisoned here.

For the 41st edition of the Journées du Patrimoine 2024 (Heritage Days 2024), on Saturday September 21 and Sunday September 22, this fortress will reveal its secrets through a series of tours and events highlighting the different parts of the castle.

The Journées du Patrimoine are an opportunity to learn more about the history of the many sumptuous monuments scattered around France. Every year in Paris and the Ile-de-France region, there's a wide range of sites to visit: from major institutions to unusual or hidden sites, cultural centers and churches... the hardest part is choosing!

The program for the 2024 Heritage Days at the Château de Vincennes (94) includes:

  • Exhibition of an archaeocapsule on the theme of buildings
    September 20 - 22

To coincide with the JEP 2024, discover an archaeocapsule on building and the evolution of construction in the Sainte-Chapelle of the château! This exhibition format, designed and produced by INRAP, brings archaeology face to face with highly contemporary themes in a fun and accessible way.
In Vincennes, we've chosen to let the walls do the talking! Because by listening to old stones, it's possible to detect clues to the social organizations, beliefs and desires of the societies that preceded us.

Here's a great program to fill our weekend for these Heritage Days in the Val-de-Marne!
