Following heavy rainfall, the Val-de-Marne has been placed on yellow alert this Wednesday, January 15, 2025, due to a significant rise in the level of the Marne. This flooding remains low, but caution is advised until the river recedes in the coming days.

For several days now, heavy rainfall has been swelling rivers in the Paris region. This Wednesday, the Vigicrues service classified the Marne as a yellow river, affecting areas from Condé-sur-Marne (Marne) to Charenton-le-Pont (Val-de-Marne). Water levels continue to rise, although they are expected to stabilize by Thursday. Vigicrues points out, however, that this is a moderate flood, with a smaller amplitude than that observed the previous week.

The rise in water levels, described as " low " by Vigicrues, is the result of the spread of flooding upstream. If weather conditions stabilize over the next few days, levels should begin to fall gradually. The Seine, which was also monitored at the start of the week, is not currently at risk of overflow, although its level remains high.

Residents of the areas concerned are invited to keep a close watch on developments. Despite the low risk of damage, the authorities are reminding people of the importance of remaining vigilant, particularly in areas close to riverbanks or subject to localized flooding. A return to drier weather should, however, limit short-term impacts.

For real-time monitoring of water level variations, Vigicrues updates are available on their official website. While the situation remains under control, these phenomena are a reminder of the need to anticipate the consequences of rainy episodes, which are becoming increasingly frequent in the Paris region.
