Throughout the year, public transport in Paris is affected by roadworks. Transilien and RER lines are particularly affected, as are several more occasional metro lines. Over the next few weeks, Paris metro line 9 will be affected.
RATP has announced that "traffic on metro line 9 will be interrupted on several occasions between May and August 2025". The reason for this?Modernization work on line 9's operating systems". The upgrading of these operating systems requires tests on optimizing train control, resulting in the total closure of the line, all day, on three occasions this spring.
In detail, metro line 9 will be completely closed on Sunday May 4, 2025. A further complete closure is scheduled for the weekend of Saturday May 31 and Sunday June 1. Finally, traffic on line 9 will also be completely shut down from 10:45pm on Monday August 4 to Friday August 8, 2025 inclusive. Note that lines connecting with line 9 will remain accessible."Only stations with no connecting lines will be completely closed to passengers", says the Régie autonome des transports parisiens.
To help passengers make the most of their journey, RATP is introducing a bus service. This will run in both directions between Pont de Sèvres and Michel-Ange - Auteuil, then between Nation and Mairie de Montreuil. These buses will operate at the same times as the metro,"with a run every 5 to 14 minutes, depending on the time of day", explains the Régie autonome des transports parisiens. Stopping points will be indicated at the entrances to the stations served.
Users can also take other lines, such as the 22 bus to the west. To the east, they can take metro line 3, RER line A or bus N°57.
Metro line 9 runs between Mairie de Montreuil to the east of Paris and Pont de Sèvres to the west. It serves stations such as Nation, République, Strasbourg Saint-Denis, Havre-Caumartin, Franklin-Roosevelt, Trocadéro and Porte de Saint-Cloud.
