The Irish Cultural Centre celebrates Nuit Blanche! For this 23rd edition, the cultural center opens its doors free of charge on the night of June 1 to 2, 2024. From 9pm to midnight, you'll be able to discover the exhibition spaces and a range of new activities.
This cultural center was inaugurated in 2002, and is located within the Collège des Irlandais, the former home of an Irish community of priests, seminarians and other lay students. A community whose ranks swelled as early as the 16th century, in particular as a result of several institutional evolutions born of the Counter-Reformation movement, then, later, due to the restrictions imposed by the formation of Catholics in Ireland.
In France, its creation is attributed to Father John Lee, who initially included six Irish students studying at the Collège de Montaigu, part of the University of Paris. The community's first residence was granted by Louis XIV in 1677. The Centre Culturel Irlandais is rich in history, and knows how to attract the curious! That's why it's taking part in Nuit Blanche 2024.
Nuit Blanche is a festive cultural event dedicated to contemporary art. Every year, thousands of curious onlookers take to the streets and art-historical sites of Paris and the Île-de-France region. For this year's edition, over 200 artistic events are scheduled throughout the Paris region. And this rich program includes the Centre Culturel Irlandais, a not-to-be-missed venue that promises a very special evening...
