Every year, Nuit Blanche offers art lovers a unique chance to explore Paris and its suburbs in a whole new way. It's a special night when the city is transformed into a vast open-air museum dedicated to contemporary art. On June 1, 2024, get ready for an immersive experience, discovering emblematic sites decked out in a thousand lights. A magical moment when art, night and the city become one!
The Maison de Fer de Poissy is one of the places that deserves your attention this Nuit Blanche. Located just a stone's throw from the Villa Savoye, it is known by several names, including Maison de Fer, Maison Métal de Poissy and Villa de la Maladrerie, and is one of only ten iron residences in France, built using the deep-drawn sheet metal technique designed by Joseph Danly.
Built in 1896, it was inhabited until the 1980s. The house originally stood next to the A14 freeway, but was abandoned after expropriation and suffered major degradation, including the ravages of the 1999 storm. In 2016, the technical services of the city of Poissy dismantled it and it was reinstalled in the Parc Meissonier. Since September 19, 2020, it has housed an architecture and heritage interpretation center.
In addition to its fascinating architecture, the Iron House is illuminated in an exceptional way for this special night, offering a totally unique perspective on this jewel of modern architecture. It's an unmissable opportunity for art and architecture enthusiasts, as well as the curious, to enjoy an extraordinary cultural experience. Discover exhibitions and other installations!
