Nuit Blanche returns to Paris and its inner suburbs this Saturday, June 1, 2024. As every year, this great and beautiful cultural event is an opportunity to discover surprising, original or offbeat artistic creations!
But what exactly is Nuit Blanche? It was in 2002, when Bertrand Delanoë was Mayor of Paris, that the very first Nuit Blanche was launched by the City of Paris. The aim of this popular and festive event? To offer the capital's inhabitants the chance to admire and listen to contemporary creations for one night only.
Since then, the Nuit Blanche has seen a host of sound and visual installations, as well as performances, monumental sculptures and exhibitions offered free of charge specially for the occasion in heritage, cultural and unusual venues, squares, bridges and gardens across Paris.
This year's Nuit Blanche takes place on Saturday, June 1, 2024. In Paris, there's no shortage of artistic events, with creations scattered all over the capital.
But there are also a number of shows and installations to discover elsewhere in the Paris region, particularly in the inner suburbs. Take, for example, the town of Malakoff in the Hauts-de-Seine department. Considered one of the youngest communes in France, Malakoff covers 207 hectares and boasts 36,750 m² of parks and gardens. Throughout the year, this Hauts-de-Seine town offers numerous events to satisfy the desires and expectations of its residents, and also takes part in major cultural events such as the Fête de la musique and the Nuit Blanche.
This Saturday, June 1, 2024, for the new Nuit Blanche, the city is inviting artist Jonathan Potana to create a work in situ, designed on the large pond in the Léon Salagnac park.
