Here's a film we're particularly looking forward to at the 2024 Directors' Fortnight: Carson Lund's Eephus. After three short films (two of which he co-directed) and a stint as cinematographer (he was also cinematographer on another film selected for the Quinzaine des Cinéastes, Christmas Eve in Miller's Point!), this is the American director 's first feature film.
Eephus follows a baseball team as they play their final game.

No need to know the rules of the game. The beauty ofEephus lies in its twilight dimension, which evokes the disappearance of a world: the fall of a certain patriarchy. The film's humor and delicacy are reminiscent of Linklater and Altman. But its gentle melancholy makes it a distant cousin of Tsaï Ming Liang'sGoodbye Dragon Inn.
