Her first name is enough to take millions of French people back to their childhood. Dorothée undoubtedly left her mark on the history of the small screen in the 1980s and 1990s, first with"Récré A2" and then with the famous"Club Dorothée". Alongside her sidekicks Jacky, Ariane, Corbier and Patrick, Dorothée left her mark on the minds of youngsters, with numerous cartoons, TV series, sitcoms and game shows. After 10 years on the air, Club Dorothée finally bowed out in August 1997. Since then, the presenter has been much more discreet, but remains in the hearts of many adults nostalgic for that era.
On Friday, January 24, 2025, TF1 plans to pay tribute to the iconic Dorothée, with a special prime-time evening in the host's presence. Simply entitled " Merci Dorothée ", this evening event will take us back in time with archive footage, shared memories and covers of her greatest hits.
While Dorothée left her mark on the history of the small screen, she also made a name for herself in music, with the publication of a series of songs. These include " Allô allô monsieur l'ordinateur ", " Hou la menteuse ", " Tremblement de terre ", " Vive les vacances ", " La Machine avalé ", " Qu'il est bête! " and " Nicolas et Marjolaine ". Dorothée, whose real name is Frédérique Hoschedé, has sold almost 20 million records, and even won a Victoire de la Musique award in 1985. She also holds an all-time record for concerts at the Zénith and Bercy!
On this tribute show, several artists will appear to cover some of Dorothée's famous songs. The line-up includes Julien Doré, Lorie, Amir and Nolwenn Leroy.
Other celebrities on the show include host and journalist Christophe Beaugrand, host and comedian Cartman, and actresses Marilou Berry and Zabou Breitman. And let's not forget Jacky and Patrick Simpson-Jones, his long-time accomplices. Hélène Rollès, Les Musclés, some actors from Mystères de l'Amour and other AB Productions sitcoms will also be present for the occasion. And according to TF1, Dorothée will also be presenting her new song!
Presented by Nikos Aliagas, " Merci Dorothée " will be broadcast on TF1 from 9:10pm on Friday January 24, 2025.
