Attention electro music fans! This spring, Ircam's 16-meter-deep projection space, located beneath the legendary Stravinsky fountain in Paris, is hosting an original live set.
To be discovered as part of the 20th edition of the Sonic Protest festival, the event opens its doors to Japanese artist Ryoji Ikeda for two exclusive musical evenings, to be experienced on Wednesday March 20 and Thursday March 21, 2024 from 8pm.
An internationally acclaimed sound and visual artist, Ryoji Ikeda presents his"Ultratronics" creation at Ircam, which promises to plunge spectators into a spellbinding, immersive universe.
For those less familiar with the subject, Ryoji Ikeda, now based in Paris, is the founder of the CCI Recording label. Acclaimed by Ars Electronica in 2001, the Japanese artist has already given several solo sets in recent years, as well as proposing installations that some still remember. These include those at the Centre Pompidou, the ZKM and the Museum of Contemporary of Tokyo.
On March 20 and 21, 2024, Ryoji Ikeda takes over the projection space at Ircam in Paris for a minimalist, meticulously crafted set, the secret of which he is renowned for!
Prior to Ryoji Ikeda's arrival on stage, the public will also be able to discover Ash Fure and his performance"ANIMAL", as well as the duo Lise Barkas-Yann Leguay.
The Espace de projection de l'Ircam (or Espro) is located in the heart of the building on Place Stravinsky. Created under the direction of Pierre Boulez and closed for 8 years, " l'Espro " is not your average concert and performance hall. Nestled at a depth of 16 meters and isolated in an architectural system of nesting boxes, the Espace de projection is a modular venue with variable acoustics. If you've never been there before, now's your chance to discover this unusual venue and enjoy a brand-new electro live set.
