Rachid Ouramdane: his dance show Contre-Nature by Compagnie de Chaillot

Contre-Nature, a new work by choreographer Rachid Ouramdane, is presented at Chaillot - Théâtre National de la danse, from November 6 to 17, 2024. The dance show is performed by ten dancers from the Compagnie de Chaillot, who will then go on tour throughout France.

In this new dance show, Rachid Ouramdane focuses on aerial gesture in a choreography mixing body-to-body and flight. The ten dancers chosen for the occasion vary in style and technique, as the choreographer believes "we need people with slightly hybrid backgrounds, i.e. those who are equally at ease in the air and on the ground, all these ways of dancing, moving, projecting themselves, that they be shared". Contre-Nature will deal with childhood and aging, through a new body language.

His works are often inspired by real-life testimonies and life stories, creating poetic and engaging pieces. Trained in contemporary dance, Rachid Ouramdane has developed a unique style, combining dance, video and sound installations. The choreographer is currently at the helm of Chaillot - Théâtre national de la Danse in Paris, where he presents his new show Contre-Nature .
