The MAC VAL museum is taking part in the new edition of the Journées de l'architecture, offering free tours on October 19 and 20, 2024, to better understand and appreciate its atypical architecture.

The MAC VAL museum in Vitry-sur-Seine, Val-de-Marne, is dedicated to contemporary art. Its permanent collections are packed with paintings, sculptures, photographs and installations of all kinds, testifying to the richness and diversity of this art form. Located within easy reach of the metro and streetcar, this little-known museum should appeal not only to lovers ofcontemporary art, but also to all those curious enough to discover art and the world in a different way.

This cultural institution regularly takes part in popular events such as the Nuit des Musées (Museum Night) and the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days). This autumn, the museum is also offering a special event. On October 19 and 20, 2024, the MAC VAL will be taking part in the Journées nationales de l'architecture.

The aim of this French event is to bringarchitecture to the general public. It's an opportunity to showcase the different professions available in this field, the great achievements and architectural treasures of the region, as well as the artistic, social and technical aspects of architecture.

During the Journées de l'architecture, several museums, schools and places of interest are offering tours and events for visitors. In Paris and the Paris region, dozens of sites are organizing special events during this themed weekend. MAC VAL invites you to join us on October 19 and 20.

The MAC VAL program for the Journées de l'architecture:

  • Saturday October 19, 4:00 pm
Architectural tour of the MAC VAL
As part of the Journées nationales de l'architecture, the MAC VAL is offering an architectural tour to (re)discover the museum's uniqueness as a place, its lines, its spaces, its atmospheres, and even its hidden places to gain perspective.
"The primary material of architecture is not concrete, metal, glass or wood, it's light. For me, architecture is physical before it is mental: you feel things, you're in three dimensions", these are the words of MAC VAL architect Jacques Ripault.

  • Sunday, October 20, 4pm
Architectural tour of the MAC VAL with urban planner Emeline Bailly
To mark the Journées nationales de l'architecture, the MAC VAL is offering an architectural walk to (re)discover the museum's singularity as a place, its lines, its spaces, its atmospheres, and even its hidden places to take in the sights.
Closely aligned with the museum's cultural action policy, integrating the role of the sensory in mediation, the tour will be a two-voice affair, between a museum lecturer and an urban planner, Emeline Bailly, who questions the sensitive landscape, the sensory, emotional and imaginary experience.
