Thoiry Lumières Sauvages 2024-2025, the journey to the center of your Dreams

From October 27, 2024 to March 2025, Thoiry's Wow Safari invites us once again to discover the largestChinese lantern festival and trail of lights in the Ile-de-France region: Thoiry Lumières Sauvages. The program includes an enchanting stroll for the whole family, couples and friends alike. Every year, the park renews itself to seduce us with a new itinerary. This year, we plunge into a dreamlike journey, inspired by the world of Jules Verne.

Thoiry Zoo and its estate, famous for its vast natural expanses and its commitment to conservation, is transformed every winter into a veritable showcase of light. As soon as night falls, visitors can explore a magical world of 2,500 luminous sculptures, spread over almost 6 hectares. These works, entirely hand-crafted and covered in silk, light up and plunge young and old alike into a journey to the heart of the worlds imagined by Jules Verne. This year's theme, "Voyages Extraordinaires", promises immersive adventures inspired by such classics as Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, Journey to the Center of the Earth and From the Earth to the Moon.

The alleys of Thoiry's wooded area promise to transport us into a variety of worlds.

On the discovery programme:

• Mysterious Island: immerse yourself in a unique ecosystem of insects, exotic plants and fascinating reptiles.
• Five Weeks in a Balloon: a captivating aerial exploration of Africa's wild flora and fauna.
• Twenty thousand leagues under the sea: an unforgettable underwater adventure to discover the wonders of the ocean depths.
• Journey to the Center of the Earth: explore a fantastic underground world populated by incredible prehistoric creatures.
• From the Earth to the Moon: the dream of space exploration in a magical celestial universe.

Behind the light show, 15 artists and technicians work behind the scenes to bring this magical journey to life. Each lantern is carefully designed using ancestral silk painting techniques, a unique savoir-faire that is renewed each year. Thanks to the installation of over 20,000 new-generation LED bulbs, the event is able to control its energy impact while offering intense, dazzling luminosity.

Thoiry Lumières Sauvages isn't just about light. Winter is also the ideal time to discover the park's rich wildlife. Whether you're driving to the Safari or walking through the gardens, meeting the park's animals is always a privileged moment. The Wow Safari Thoiry is actively involved in the preservation of endangered species through numerous European programs, such as the one dedicated to Przewalski's horses, recently reintroduced into their natural habitat.

Wow Safari Thoiry is also committed to a virtuous process of controlling its environmental impact and reducing its energy consumption. This involves optimizing the lighting time of the Lumières Sauvages in particular, resulting in energy savings of 30%. Note also that these lanterns use low-energy LED bulbs, which consume 10 times less energy than conventional bulbs.
