You make your way up rue Mouffetard, elbowing your way through the onlookers, then see an Asian lantern lit in a quiet side street 10 meters away. You decide to leave the beaten path and take a look, and surprise, you discover a sleek, modern little stall welcoming you with its window display of tempting pastries and its menu of Asian dishes. Take your favorite ramen restaurant, mix it up with your favorite pastry influencer, and welcome to Lamian Latian!
Lamian Latian, pronounce mine yours!
The restaurant 's concept is to offer simple but quality dishes, and to combine savory and sweet dishes for a complete offering that will meet the budgets of students as well as the most educated palates, in a premium fast-food restaurant.
The team behind the stoves has many years' experience in Michelin-starred restaurants, the great Parisian palaces, and the laboratories of renowned Parisian pastry shops.
The combination of these experiences gave birth to the Lamian Latian concept. Lamian is noodles, salty; Latian is a play on the Chinese word tian, sweet. Lamian Latian, sweet and salty! Mine and yours!
Lamian, savoury for everyone
The house's savory specialties, lamian (or ramen, in Japanese) and its pork and poultry bone broth, are homemade noodles made with flour from China to achieve a unique texture. The low-fat broth, with vegetables and spices, simmers for around ten hours to delicately flavour and concentrate its health-giving glycine and collagen. The bowl is rounded off with slices of beef, chicken or veggie (without broth, but with a lightly spiced Massaman sauce), seasonal vegetables and a poached egg for a complete, hearty dish.
You'll find homemade ravioli to share, beef, pork or veggie to suit all tastes, cooked to the minute for the perfect tasting experience; hearty curry rice with a light chilli kick for those who prefer rice, or a banh mi sandwich to eat on the way to the shops or at lunchtime between two courses.
Latian, the sweet moment
Lamian Latian's second specialty: its homemade pastries! And at the start of the new year, what could be more French Chinese than the galette des rois! Available in a Franco-French version, the galette frangipane, or a more original version for family Sundays, the Franco-Asian fusion with matcha. This revisited galette, light in green tea to retain the sweet taste of homemade frangipane, will be a sensation with this original recipe.
Lamian Latian also offers French pastry classics such as millefeuille vanille or choux à la crème caramel, as well as desserts with Asian flavors, such as the famous millecrêpes matcha, or black sesame flan. The dessert menu evolves with the seasons, with fruit pastries and traditional Asian pastries revisited.
Finally, for latté or bubble tea lovers, Lamian Latian offers a selection of hot and cold drinks, such as avocado matcha latté or black tea bubble tea with crème brûlée on top!
As you've already guessed, this little jewel hidden in the shadow of rue Mouffetard, in the beautiful square Vermenouze, awaits you for a meal alone or with friends in a small, chic, quiet room, or to take away in the comfort of your own home, and always warmly welcomed by the Sino Francaise team. Zàijiàn and see you soon!
