Is France gaining control over the coronavirus epidemic again? France’s Health director general Jérôme Salomon says so during his press brief held on Tuesday November 17, 2020: “our efforts begin to pay off”.

The second coronavirus epidemic wave led to a new nationwide lockdown in France. But good news has been sparking hope for a few days amidst the pandemic. Shortly after the announcement of promising vaccines, France is said to have passed the peak of the epidemic. This is what says Health Minister Olivier Véran anyway.

As for Health General Director Jérôme Salomon, he held a press brief on Tuesday November 17, 2020 about the epidemic. As France is exceeding 2 million Covid-19 cases, he said “our efforts begin to pay off: the number of new cases has been decreasing for a few days”, before adding “let’s work twice as hard to gain control over the epidemic again”. He also says positive tests peaked on November 2, 2020 with about 70,000 new cases in 24 hours.

Emmanuel Macron is said to give a speech by the middle of next week to address the lockdown exit strategy.
