The second edition of the short film festival, WESTFIELD STORIES 2, came to a close on Thursday February 16 at the UGC Ciné Cité Les Halles in Paris, with the presentation of awards for the best short film 2023.
Created on the initiative of Westfield, in collaboration with Publicis Media Connect and VICE, this second edition of the festival enabled 8 young people from the Kourtrajmé Montfermeil school, from all over France, to express themselves freely behind the camera to tell what the experience in a Westfield shopping center in 2022 might be like.
To decide between the 8 short films in competition, a jury chaired by actress Shirine Boutella (Papicha, Lupin) and including actor Alexis Manenti (winner of the César for Best Emerging Actor for the film Les Misérables), Frédérique Cochi-Beyot (Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield Group Marketing Director) and Tony Vernagallo (last year's winning director), met at the UGC Ciné Cité Les Halles cinema to award the jury prize.
An audience prize was also awarded, following online voting on the VICE platform by over 21,000 participants. The winner of the 2023 edition of Westfield Stories was young director Alexane Andrieu, who took both the jury and audience prizes for her short film La Fleur de l'âge, shot at the Westfield Vélizy 2 shopping center.
Other celebrities present that evening included actress and director Alexandra Naoum, actresses Laetitia Eïdo, Anne-Julie Proulx, Yasmine Lavoine, Gwendolyn Gourvenec, Astrid Roos, Iris Jodorowsky, as well as actors Pierre Rochefort, Yaniss Lespert, Éric Pucheu, Benoît Rabillé, comedian and humorist Maxime Musqua and street artist Nasty... A festival resolutely focused on a new generation of talent and cinema.
