At some 130 meters above sea level, this square is part of the capital's highest district, close to the Sacré-Coeur in Montmartre.
It has always attracted many tourists, not least for its picturesque liveliness, inherited from the rich artistic activity that took place here in the 19th century, between café terraces, caricaturists, naive painters and "portrait shooters".
