The Eiffel Tower, originally named the 300-meter tower, is a Puddlé iron tower built by Gustav Eiffel and his collaborators for the 1889 Universal Exhibition. Located at the end of the Champs-de-Mars on the banks of the Seine, this Parisian monument, a symbol of France and its capital, was the ninth most visited site in 2006 and the world's leading paying monument, with 6.893 million visitors in 2007.
