Rue Mouffetard is one of the best-known streets in the Latin Quarter, and was probably laid out in Roman times. It descends from Mont Sainte-Geneviève, from Place de la Contrescarpe towards the church of Saint-Médard. It's a very picturesque street, busy with restaurants, crêperies and boutiques. In addition to these commercial activities, it is home to two theaters, Le Mouffetard (classical and modern) and Le Triomphe (café-theater).
