From December 25, 2024 to January 1, 2025, the Jewish festival of Hanukkah returns this year with, as always, public events all over France. In 2024, the Loubavitch movement in Seine-Saint-Denis is organizing public Hanukkiah lightings every day (except Shabbat), in many of the department's towns. This is one of the few departments in the Île-de-France region to celebrate the holiday in public every day where possible.
At Hanukkah, Jews all over the world celebrate the miracle of lights, lighting a new candle each evening from the eight-branched candleholder, the hanukiah, plus a ninth, the chamach. These public events are open to all, whether you're Jewish or not, and are free of charge.
