Facing the world’s epidemic situation, the World Health Organization (WHO) director general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told a virtual press conference on Thursday August 6, 2020 in Geneva: “it’s never too late to turn the outbreak around”

Earlier this week, WHO director general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned the world that there might be no vaccine against coronavirus ever. This Thursday August 6, 2020 he once again spoke on a virtual press conference from Geneva.

Describing a virus that infects all countries without any different, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus reminds the American continent that still remains the epicenter of coronavirus has been especially badly hit by the virus.

He also says that no country is able to make it on its own against the epidemic, highlighting how important it is to get an international response and work together. Yet, the speech of WHO director also conveys a hopeful message: “It’s never too late to turn the outbreak around” he says adding that countries have already done so.

This week in France, the Scientific Committee warned against the imminent risk of falling into an out-of-control resurgence of the epidemic in France. As many indicators confirm the spread of the virus has starting again all over the country, more and more cities react and implement mandatory facemasks in outdoor places.
