This Thursday December 3, 2020 Prime Minister Jean Castex detailed France's vaccine campaign. After explaining European countries created a "task force" to even prices and that vaccine doses be available "at the same moment and for quantities set in proportion to the population".
In concrete words, "France will have 200 million doses possible" the head of government says. Yet, even though Castex promises to launch France's vaccine campaign "in a matter of weeks", he says the European Medicines Agency is to deliver results by December 29, 2020 as to approval of "candidate-vaccines".
Furthermore, it is on the European level, that the different nations have secured Covid-19 vaccines… The European Commission President, Ursula Von Der Leyen, has announced the EU has struck a deal on Tuesday November 24 for up to 160 million doses of vaccines with American Moderna Therapeutics group. This is the sixth contract made with a pharmaceutical group that developed a vaccine.
“I am happy to announce that tomorrow we will approve a new contract to secure another COVID-19 vaccine” European Commission President explained during a press brief. She also alluded to a seventh contract soon to be made with another laboratory and soon to be announced. As for the previous contracts are involved the following laboratories: AstraZeneca, Pfizer/BioNTech, Sanofi, Johnson & Johnson as well as German biopharmaceutical company CureVac.
For the record, before issuing vaccines, the EMA – the European Medicines Agency – has to approve vaccines currently examined. The approval is expected for the end of 2020. As for deliveries, whatever may happen, they will only occur when vaccines proved they were safe and effective. Delivery expected for early 2021.
