Being vaccinated against Covid, a genuine obstacle course in every way… As vaccine campaigns have started in many countries including China, Canada, the United-Kingdom, the United States of America and more recently in Israel, many people are wondering about the adverse effects described in the medical literature and noticed post injection as for the two vaccines already issued: Pfizer and Moderna. In the United-Kingdom, two caregivers have been vaccinated and developed severe clinical allergic reactions. The same thing also happened to several hospital staff members in Alaska several days ago.
Even though these more or less severe symptoms are rare, one thing has been noticed: although they are overall mild, similar to other vaccine effects, there are many – and even too many – adverse effects. Therefore, according to a report released by the FDA, 86% of the volunteers have developed rashes around the injection site for Pfizer vaccine, against 91% for Moderna. 63% of them felt tired once given the Pfizer product, against 68% for Moderna. Same thing for headaches: 55% for the Pfizer vaccine, and 63% for the Moderna vaccine; or even muscle pain with 55% for those given the Pfizer product, and 63% for those given the Moderna one.
As for severe adverse effects, the FDA’s report states four Bell’s palsies, or even facial nerve damage, as reported by Francetvinfo as for the Pfizer vaccine. Four cases have been also reported for Moderna Therapeutics vaccine. But both laboratories do not attribute these effects to the vaccine, the number of people affected matching the “ratio found in the general population” as Francetvinfo says. Moreover, one of the volunteers that took part in the Moderna trial developed this side effect but they belonged to the group that had been given a placebo and not the vaccine. Yet, “special care” must be given in the event of a palsy, as the Food & Drug Administration recommends.
For the record, “mild” side effects are common when it comes to vaccines. Generally speaking, there is one severe case of side effects in 100,000; severe meaning here these effects last on the long run, and are often incurable. No such case has been reported yet for Covid vaccine, but the lack of perspective cannot solve the problem yet.
