UK Covid-19 variant keeps on spreading across the world. In their latest report as for the Covid-19 epidemic situation in the world released this Wednesday January 20, 2021, the World Health Organization thinks 60 countries and lands in the world have been directly infected by the new UK coronavirus strain.
A week before that, the same World Health Organization reported in the epidemiologist report as of January 12, that about 50 countries were infected by the new Covid-19 strain. If more and more countries and territories are infected by this variant, it is also because it is all the more so as contagious that the first Covid-19 strain, that broke out in late 2019 in China. For instance, in France, the health authorities consider the new UK strain will “dominate” from March in the population because of the geographic proximity between France and the United-Kingdom and because of its high virality.
At the same time, other variants, such as the South-African strain or the Brazilian one, continue to appear as dangerous to WHO supervisors and experts. As for the new strain found in South Africa, scientists can show this version of the virus is spreading more slowly, since it has only been found in 23 countries and territories, naming three more than as of January 12, WHO says.
