Coronavirus: getting contaminated to have the health pass, not a good idea

As the health pass is extended to many public places, and some of the French are refractory to the idea of getting vaccinated, an uncommon trick grows popular: getting contaminated by coronavirus to get the health pass without vaccination nor PCR test. Here is why this is not a good idea.

Since it has been announced the health pass is extended, some people are looking for alternative means to get their precious key without having to be vaccinated or tested. Shortly after Emmanuel Macron July 12, 2021’s address, a boom in searches linked to the tedious quest for fake vaccination certificates or negative tests has been recorded. A fraud likely to cost a lot, including penalties likely to go up to €45,000 fine.

But another trick is growing common. The health pass being delivered to three criteria (vaccine, negative test or natural immunity), some people have tried to use an uncommon method: willingly getting infected with coronavirus. A positive PCR test for more than 11 days enable to get the key for 6 months without vaccine or test. Yet, this is not such a good idea.

And for good reason, this method is far from being safe. Although aggravating factors have been identified, in hospitals, non-vaccinated patients do not always show comorbidities unlike hospitalized vaccinated patients. Therefore, you are not safe from developing severe disease and suffer from long-term Covid. The Haute Autorité de Santé then declared that “more than half of patients still show at least one of the initial Covid-19 symptoms four weeks after onset symptoms, and over 10% 6 months in”. Fatigue, loss of smell, taste, breathing disorder are as many symptoms likely to last and impact former sick’s daily lives.

Coronavirus can also have long-run after-effects that can be irreversible. The virus attacking the heart, vessels, brain without forgetting lungs, people with severe Covid-19 are likely to suffer from pathologies such as myocarditis, encephalitis, acute respiratory distress syndrome, acute coronary syndromes, arrythmia, or heart failure. To this, add the risk of contaminating more people and putting them at the aforementioned risks.
