Amidst the fifth wave in Europe and France, this Friday November 26, 2021, the Institut Pasteur issues in The Lancet Regional Health Europe magazine a study conducted in 12,634 people who tested positive between May 23 and August 13, 2021 and 5,560 test-people who have not been infected and who had to answer a detailed form to determine the infection risk depending on places visited.
According to the Institut Pasteur, it is more necessary than ever to keep complying with health guidelines, wearing a facemask in closed venues and air your place of life or work, because of the predominance of the Delta variant. As a matter of fact, according to the study, the places the most at risk when it comes to infection are poorly aired places: at-home parties with friends or in a bar, clubs, as well as public transit, which was not the case with the previous variants.
“The practical consequence is to remind the importance or room-airing and facemask-wearing”, especially as Europe is experiencing an “epidemic outbreak synchronous with a cold wave”, epidemiologist Arnaud Fontanet – head of the study – told the AFP.
