Chocolate becomes a game under the expert hands of Pierre Hermé. For Easter 2025, the famous pastry chef-chocolatier has created a series of pieces that are as aesthetic as they are playful. Each meticulously sculpted creation evokes a game of strategy, where reflection meets tasting, all with the precision of a grand master. The eggs, the centerpieces of this "Pris au Jeu" collection, evoke both memories of childhood games and a fascination for the craft of chocolate-making.
We start the game with the Cavalier, inspired by chess, with its stylized silhouette, available in dark, milk or blond chocolate ( Galeries Lafayette exclusivity for the latter). Available in a small version at €25 in all Pierre Hermé boutiques, the Cavalier is available in a large version at €45, exclusively at Galeries Lafayette.
Then it's a pleasure to get lost in the Labyrinth, an egg adorned with embossed paths, like a promise of mystery to munch on. Available in milk, black and blond versions at 35€.
The Jeu de Dames, meanwhile, places the pawns directly on the egg: a 20 cm Infiniment Praliné Noisette gourmet composition, priced at 65€.
Our favorite is the Fou Culbuto, a perpetual-motion creation as beautiful as it is elusive (75€), while the signature piece "Pris au Jeu", with its floating central pearl, embodies a feat of chocolate design at 270€.
Fans of intricate mechanics will be won over by the "Engrenages" egg, a genuine sculpture in Pure Origine Bélize dark chocolate, 66 cm high, in a limited edition and priced on request. In it, Pierre Hermé explores the workings of the game and the precision of watchmaking, in a composition as imposing as it is poetic.
The collection also includes pastries. With Aura, the white pawn becomes a dessert: strawberry, coconut and lemongrass intermingle with finesse. Its dark counterpart, Aurore, reveals pecans in a variety of textures, contrasted by a Pure Origine Bélize chocolate chantilly. Prices range from €12 for an individual to €84 for 8 people, to be enjoyed with the whole family.
As for viennoiseries, the Colombe au Chocolat blends candied orange and Pure Origin Venezuela chocolate, while the Colombe Ispahan reinterprets the famous rose, raspberry and letchi creation in a sweet brioche version. At €30, they complete the picture with refinement.
Finally, for a playful touch, Pierre Hermé offers a box of 28 dominoes in dark, milk and blond chocolate (25€), and the essential Easter treats (9€ per 70g), to prolong the pleasure in all simplicity.
In this Easter season, we're letting ourselves be taken in by the game, between gourmet strategy and aesthetic wonder. And what if this year, the pleasure of chocolate also involved a little tactics? An experience to be savored in Paris, a stone's throw from 72 rue Bonaparte, but also in the House's other boutiques, or directly on the Pierre Hermé online site. In any case, we're still licking our lips. When the eggs are topped with praline, the house doesn't skimp on quantity.
